What I am doing this Summer (Summer Bucket List)

6/28/2019

It’s officially Summer!  June 21, 2019 Summer arrived!

Things I want to do this Summer (Summer Bucket List)
Picture
This year I wants to take time off and just relax, read book, EAT…Lol ?

There was so much I want to do, and I always said I would do them, but I want to put into writing that I am going to do it or plan to do them.

For years all I do is work, work and more work.  I want to work on RELAXING; I remember one day when I went to go get a pedicure, the lady was massaging my calves and said, “You need to learn how to relax”, because I was so tense.  So, a few months ago I decide that I was going to do just that RELAX.  Whatever, I don’t get done in a day it’s okay and put it on my To Do List for the next day.

The key is to PLAN and use a planner, that is the reason I created the Living on Purpose Matrix Planner; it is to help people plan and organize their lives.  The Living on Purpose Matrix Planner has so many printables in it.

Each printable is designed to fit your needs, you can utilize all of them or you can utilize the one that’s most comfortable for you; purchase today and start planning your life, business, schooling.

 Here is my list:
Places to visits:

Newport, Rhode Island Mansions (click here for more info), I haven’t been here in 30 years and I can clearly remember our trip.  These mansions are so nice and huge, the grounds are beautiful.

Mrytle Beach, South Carolina (click here for more info), I have always wanted to go to Mrytle Beach, it seems like such a nice place.  A friend of mine has been going there every year for vacation.

African American Museum, Washington, DC,  clickhere for more info, this is such an awesome place, my daughter went during her college tour this Spring.  I can’t wait to go!

This is my traveling schedule, however, I do want to finish my James Patterson book, that I got last Christmas.  The People vs Alex Cross (affiliate link)
Since, I am still learning how to relax, therefore I have a small bucket list for now; as I learn I’m sure my Summer bucket list will grow.

One final item to add to my Summer bucket is to have one full week (that’s 7 full days of doing ABSOLUTELY nothing, maybe I will used this week to finish my book ?

Have a great Summer!

Time to RELAX….to parties in one weekend!

6/26/2019

Both parties were a success, my daughter had a great time at both of her parties.  However, I am exhausted! I don’t think I will do that again…Lol

The first party was amazing and a lot of work to prepare and set up but in the end, it was all worth it.
Lesson learned:
  • We had too much food for the Saturday party; which is good and bad, because the string beans and baked beans were not touched, and I didn’t even get a chance to make the baked beans.  We had a lot of food leftover and the good thing the guest were able to take a lot of food home.  It’s always best to have more than enough food than to not have enough food.  Leftovers are always amazing the next day or too 😉

  • Plan much earlier, although it worked out, but I would send out invitations after at least one week earlier (2-3 weeks in advance); a lot of guests didn’t show up, but always remember only 70% of the people you invite will show up.  However, you must prepare for the 100% showing up, I know confusing.  It is better to have too much food than not enough food, but don’t over do it with the quantity.
Example: If you invite 50 people to your event, prepare food for 50 people and not 100 people. When the 35 people show up you will have more than enough food. 😊

  • We did additional shopping on the day of the party, that’s a DEFINATE no, no! All you should the day of the party is preparing for the party (set up, cooking, decorating) to have to go and purchase items is just an added stress.  If at all possible, cook any food item in advance, I had made our potato salad the day before.

  • I am a party planner by trade and I love planning party and events, but this party wiped me out, Lol

However, we had a lot of fun at both parties; looking forward to the next event!

2 Parties in 1 Weekend!

6/21/2019

Planning two birthday parties in less than a week!

My youngest is turning 17 on Sunday and we went from small dinner on Sunday to two parties in one weekend and its Thursday and the first party is on Saturday and the second party is on Sunday.

There are two completely different guest lists, which total two different number of guests. Two different venues for the parties Yikes!  What was I thinking to let this happen, but I’m am a party planner I can handle this and then I thought what a great blog post! Lol

What we did first was:
  • Determine the two venues
  • Who to invite to which party?
  • Determine the decorations for both parties (colors are light blue and yellow)
  • Menu for each party

Second, we began to organize each party.
  • Finalize time and menu for each party
  • Talley guest for each party
  • Outline the day for each party
  • Determine birthday girl outfits for both parties (VERY important) Lol

Third, we began to purchase, rent and borrow all the items we need for each party
  • The Saturday party is outdoors, and we will need tents, table, chairs and coolers
  • Allow PLENTY of time to purchase, borrow and rent, so that everything is not left for Saturday.
  • The second party on Sunday is at a restaurant, the reservation is already made and all we have to do is show up….Yeah  Everyone is purchasing their own meal, so the only expense is mine and my daughter’s meal.

Here are my tasks for the next few days:

Thursday, food shopping for the party on Saturday, finalize the guest list for both parties, outline Friday, Saturday and Sunday tasks.

Friday, pick up rentals for Saturday's party (tables, chairs, tents), it suppose to be a hot day...Yeah!  Prepare potato salad, marinate meats, last of the grocery shopping for Saturday's menu, pick up mylar balloons these balloons last for 2-3 weeks if inflated the day you pick it up.  HINT: always have your mylar balloons inflated the day you are purchasing them, what I have found out that going into a store and purchasing already inflated balloons don't last as long as long, because those pre-inflated balloons have been inflated for days and even weeks prior to your purchase.

My original plan was to purchase mylar balloons in advance so that I don't have to go Dollar Tree on Saturday to purchase balloons, however the birthday girls wants latex balloons too and these balloons only last 10 hours, so off to the party store I go, but I will be there AS SOON AS THEY OPEN, Saturday can be crazy at Dollar Tree, at least the one that I shop at.

Saturday, EARLY morning set up tents, tables and chairs outside, cook the last of the food for Saturday's menu, pickup birthday cake and latex balloons (latex balloons only last about 10 hours)  I have a prior engagement at noon, that should be done by 2pm and then I will head to party site and put final decorations and party time.

It's after 5am as I post this to my blog and off to Super Walmart to purchase ribs, cool-aid, soda, pineapple juice (to make punch), hamburger and hot dog buns.

Have a great day....I will post party pictures next week.

  • Beer mug

  • Tie(s)
  • Golf clubs
  • Netflix subscription for a year
  • Running gear for the Dad that runs
  • Exercise gear for the Dad that works out
  • MP3 player
